The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Securities and Exchange Commission, conducted a Bribery and Corruption Prevention Programme for the Securities Commission officers on 19 December 2025. The programme was held in the auditorium of the National Foundation Institute, and was attended by approximately 250 officers.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, in collaboration with the People’s Bank, conducted a Bribery and Corruption Prevention Programme for officers of the Bank on 19 January 2026. The programme was held in the main auditorium of the Bank with the participation of nearly 245 officers, including the Chairman.
Based on a complaint made by a resident of Wellawatta, Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested a retired Navy Medical Assistant on 13 January 2026 for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 200,000. The complainant alleged that the suspect had solicited a sum of Rs. 300,000/- in order to make the necessary arrangements for the admission of the complainant’s eldest daughter to Grade 01 at Visaka Vidyalaya, Colombo, for the year 2026.
Based on a complaint lodged by a resident of Hulannuge, Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested a Beat Forest Officer attached to the Hulannuge Beat Forest Office on January 12, 2026. According to the complainant, the officer had solicited a bottle of arrack and Rs. 30,000 as a bribe for refraining from instituting legal action against the complainant for cultivating in the portion of his four-acre land allocated to the Nelumwewa Yaya forest reserve. The arrest was made inside the Hulannuge Beat Forest Office while the suspect was accepting the said bribe.
Based on a complaint made by a resident of Ragama, Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested a Technical Officer (TO) attached to the Welisara Sub-Office of the Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha at approximately 3.50 p.m. on January 7, 2026, on allegations of soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from the complainant. The suspected TO has pointed out the shortcomings in the building plan submitted by the complainant, and has solicited the said amount to approve the plan, disregarding those shortcomings.
Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) attached to the Office of the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Nuwara Eliya and a Woman Police Sergeant attached to the Office of the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Kalmunai, in connection with an ongoing investigation.
