CIABOC seizes 12 more illegally registered vehicles

On 01st, 02nd and 03rd April, the Commission seized 12 more vehicles (on an order issued by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court) in relation to the ongoing investigation into malpractices associated with the registration of vehicles that had not undergone customs clearance by the Department of Motor Traffic. These vehicles include,

01. Mitsubishi jeeps - 01
02. Mitsubishi Montero jeeps - 06
03. Toyota jeeps - 03
04. Land Cruiser Prado jeeps - 01
05. Nissan double cabs - 01

The Commission is currently investigating how these corruptions occurred and the loss it has caused to the government, using scientific and technical methods.

The Commission previously handed over 15 such fraudulently registered vehicles, which had caused a loss of Rs. 597,189,323/- to the government, to Sri Lanka Customs for further investigation.
