Based on a complaint made by a resident of Kantale, Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested a Senior Disciplinary Officer (Acting) and a Security Officer attached to the Sri Lanka Transport Board Eastern Province Regional Office over allegations of soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rupees One Hundred Thousand. The complainant, who was the conductor of a bus running on the Vavuniya- Trincomalee route, had been suspended from service for not issuing a ticket to a passenger and the Senior Disciplinary Officer has solicited and accepted the said bribe through a Security Officer in exchange for conducting the disciplinary inquiry against the complainant in a manner that does not cause any prejudice to him to ensure he is reinstated. Accordingly, the Senior Disciplinary Officer and the Security Officer were arrested at the SLTB Eastern Province Regional Office at 2.52 p.m. and 2.49 p.m. on 22nd April 2025.
