Based on a complaint lodged by a resident in Wattala, Palliayawatta, Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested an IP of Mahabage Police Station at around 02.13 p.m. on 03.07.2024. According to the complainant, the IP has solicited and accepted a bribe of Rs. 25,000/-, promising to do the needful for him to pay the amount of two returned cheques in monthly instalments upon inquiring the complaint lodged against him on the two returned cheques, and not to produce him before the court.The arrest was made before the Abans Showroom near Mahabage Police Station on allegations of soliciting and accepting a bribe.
