Based on a complaint made by a resident of Wellawatta, Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested a retired Navy Medical Assistant on 13 January 2026 for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 200,000. The complainant alleged that the suspect had solicited a sum of Rs. 300,000/- in order to make the necessary arrangements for the admission of the complainant’s eldest daughter to Grade 01 at Visaka Vidyalaya, Colombo, for the year 2026.

Based on a complaint lodged by a resident of Hulannuge, Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested a Beat Forest Officer attached to the Hulannuge Beat Forest Office on January 12, 2026. According to the complainant, the officer had solicited a bottle of arrack and Rs. 30,000 as a bribe for refraining from instituting legal action against the complainant for cultivating in the portion of his four-acre land allocated to the Nelumwewa Yaya forest reserve. The arrest was made inside the Hulannuge Beat Forest Office while the suspect was accepting the said bribe.

Based on a complaint made by a resident of Ragama, Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested a Technical Officer (TO) attached to the Welisara Sub-Office of the Wattala Pradeshiya Sabha at approximately 3.50 p.m. on January 7, 2026, on allegations of soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from the complainant. The suspected TO has pointed out the shortcomings in the building plan submitted by the complainant, and has solicited the said amount to approve the plan, disregarding those shortcomings.

Based on a complaint made by a resident of Kinniya, Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested a Sub-Inspector attached to the Kinniya Police Station on 31 December, 2025. According to the complainant, the police had arrested two suspects in relation to the complaint he lodged regarding an assault on him, and the said SI had demanded a bribe of Rs. 10,000/- to arrest the other suspects and take legal action against them. The arrest was made inside the Kinniya Police Station for arranging to accept the bribe through an intermediary.

Based on a complaint lodged by a businessman in Sainthamaruthu, the Investigation Officers of CIABOC arrested a Police Constable attached to the Karthivu Police Station over allegations of soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000/-. The bribe was demanded to return the complainant’s revenue license, which he had taken into his custody, without filing a case in court. Accordingly, the suspected PC was arrested at around 6.10 p.m. on September 11, 2025, at the Police Station.

Following a complaint lodged by a businessman from the Okkampitiya Gaminipura area, Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested a Chief Inspector of the Okkampitiya Police Station while accepting a bribe of Rs. 40,000.

Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested a Police Constable (PC) attached to Raddoulgama Police Station on 14 July 2025. The arrest was made following a complaint lodged by a resident of Raddolugama. According to the complainant, the Constable had taken his driving license in connection with a traffic offence and solicited a bribe of Rs. 3,000/- to return it without pursuing legal action. Consequently, the PC was arrested at Wettewa Junction, Raddolugama, while accepting the bribe.

North Division) arrested over allegations of soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 180,000/- The Commission’s Investigation Officers arrested a Police Constable and a Constable driver of the Police Crime Division on 9 th July 2025 for accepting a bribe of Rs. 180,000 from a three-wheeler driver. The arrest was made based on a complaint lodged by the three-wheeler driver. 

Following a complaint lodged by a businessman from Bandarawela, a Development Officer and a driver attached to the Office of the Registrar of Pesticides, Peradeniya, were arrested around 1.30 p.m. on 3rd July 2025 on charges of soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000. It was alleged that they solicited the bribe to cover fuel expenses for their vehicle, which was needed to visit the complainant’s residence in order to obtain samples of pesticides, fungicides, and plant hormones to register his business.

Deputy Commissioner of the IRD Jawatta City Branch, K. C. K. Kumara, was arrested by the Commission’s Investigation Officers on 7 th July 2025 for accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000 from a businessman in Piliyandala. The arrest was made based on a complaint lodged by the businessman. According to him, he requested the Tax Clearance Report for 2025 for an institution he operates in Dematagoda, and the said Deputy Commissioner, informing him of tax arrears of Rs. 1,100,000, demanded Rs. 100,000 as a bribe to issue the Tax Clearance Report for 2025, removing the arrears. The bribe amount was subsequently reduced to Rs. 50,000, and on 3 rd July, he accepted Rs. 42,000 from it. The arrest took place at the said IRD office while receiving the balance of Rs. 8,000.

Based on a complaint lodged by a resident of Kaduruwela, Polonnaruwa, Investigation Officers of the Commission, on 04th July 2025, arrested a Quazi Judge and a Clerk of the Kaduruwela Quazi Court over allegations of soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 100,000/- in exchange for delivering the judgement of the divorce case the complainant filed in the Kaduruwela Quazi Court against her husband on 18th July 2025 in her favour.

Following a complaint lodged by a resident of the Ambalangoda area, Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested the Writ Executor and Summons Server of the Balapitiya Magistrate’s Court on 5th June 2025 for allegedly soliciting and accepting a bribe from the complainant. The complainant stated that he personally filed a case in the Balapitiya Magistrate’s Court regarding a land enjoyment dispute and, having received an unfavourable judgment, requested the full case proceedings on the advice of his counsel to appeal in the High Court. The Writ Executor allegedly solicited and accepted Rs. 5,000/- from the complainant, in addition to the government fee for issuing the full proceedings. Consequently, he was arrested inside the Balapitiya Court Complex at 12:23 p.m. on 5th June 2025.
