Retired Navy Medical Assistant arrested over allegations of soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 200,000/-

Based on a complaint made by a resident of Wellawatta, Investigation Officers of the Commission arrested a retired Navy Medical Assistant on 13 January 2026 for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs. 200,000. The complainant alleged that the suspect had solicited a sum of Rs. 300,000/- in order to make the necessary arrangements for the admission of the complainant’s eldest daughter to Grade 01 at Visaka Vidyalaya, Colombo, for the year 2026.

The suspect had previously accepted Rs. 100,000/- on three occasions, and the arrest was made while he was accepting the balance sum of Rs. 200,000 near the Thimbirigasyaya junction on D. S. Fonseka Road.
