On February 17, 2025, the Mahaweli Development Authority (MDA) Zonal C Division in Dehiattakandiya, in collaboration with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), successfully conducted a corruption prevention workshop. The event brought together land officers, unit managers, field assistants, clerical staff, office executives, engineers, and agriculture advisors to promote integrity and transparency in public resource management.

An online training session on Bribery and Corruption was successfully conducted for estate staff and management of Kelani Valley Plantations PLC on February 11, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. The session, held at the Kelani Valley Plantations’ Conference Hall via Microsoft Teams, aimed to enhance awareness and understanding of ethical practices among estate workers.

A Prevention Programme to raise awareness of integrity and the law related to bribery and corruption was conducted with the aim of eliminating bribery and corruption in the public bus transport sector. The programme held at the National Transport Commission in Bastian Mawatha on 07th February 2025 was attended by about 38 officers of the National Transport Commission and Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority. Among the attendees were the Chairman of the Western Province Road Passenger Transport Authority and the Director of the National Transport Commission.

The Corruption Prevention Programme for Class II Officers of the Planning Service (recruited in 2013) arranged by the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA) was held in the Institute auditorium on 06th February 2025. The programme intended to address the topic, “Enhancing Integrity within the Organizational Framework”.

Over 70 local officials trained to strengthen integrity in public service

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) organized a specialized workshop on bribery and corruption prevention for over 70 Grama Niladhari (village heads) under the Homagama Divisional Secretariat on January 20. Held at the Homagama Divisional Secretariat’s newly inaugurated auditorium, the program aimed to reinforce ethical practices in public administration and streamline citizen access to government services.

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC), in partnership with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), successfully conducted a Strengthening Integrity Programme for its executives on Saturday, February 8, 2025. The event was held as part of the Clean Sri Lanka Initiative Week, a nationwide campaign introduced by the Honorable President to foster cleanliness, ethical governance, and public accountability.

Another programme of the series of Corruption Prevention Programmes conducted for National Water Supply and Drainage Board officers was held on 24.01.2025 at their Head Office in Ratmalana. Prevention Officers of the Commission, Mr. Sampath Arachchige and Mrs. Madhuka Ruwanthi made the participants aware of the concept of “integrity” and efficiency, productivity, responsibility and accountability of government officers. They were also made aware of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023 and of novel legal provisions on bribery, corruption and illegal accumulation of assets, and at the end of the programme discussed the problems they have in that regard.

One-day training on Preventing Bribery and Corruption was conducted for 71 officers of the National Gem and Jewelry Authority. The training was held at the Authority premises in Eheliyagoda on 24.01.2025. Prevention Officers of the Commission, Mr. Shammi Srilal and Mrs. Udeshika Jayasekara made the participants aware of Preventing Bribery and Corruption and of the Repercussions involved. They were also made aware of the Concept of Integrity and the New Anti-Corruption Act, and at the end of the training discussed the problems they have in that regard.

A Corruption Prevention Programme was conducted as the first programme of the Renaissance Week arranged by System H of Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority and was held in the Thambuththegama National School auditorium. The Renaissance Week, themed “A Rich Country- A Beautiful Life” began on 27th January 2025 in line with the Clean Sri Lanka National Programme. It was attended by Heads and officers of almost all government institutions in Mahaweli System H and was a crowd of approximately 300 participants. As the resource persons of the programme, Prevention Officers of the Commission, Mr. Shammi Srilal and Mrs. Udeshika Jayasekara made the participants aware of the Repercussions and Prevention of Bribery and Corruption, the Concept of Integrity and the New Anti-Corruption Act and also discussed the problems they have in that regard.

The first Corruption Prevention for the private sector in 2025 was conducted on 16.01.2025 for Executive Officers of Bogala Graphite Lanka Plc and was aimed at creating a clean nation by eliminating bribery and corruption. The programme was held at its premises and was attended by the General Manager and 37 Executive Officers.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption conducted a Corruption Prevention Programme on 27.12.2023 for field and office-based officers of the Sabaragamuwa Road Passenger Transport Authority with the prime aim of empowering public service officers to eliminate bribery and corruption in government institutions and foster a clean public service. The programme was held at Hotel Kethumathi, and Prevention Officers of the Commission, Mr. Shammi Srilal and Mrs. Eranga Madushi delivered the lectures here.

The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption conducted a Corruption Prevention Programme on 23.12.2023 for around 75 Government Officers with the prime aim of empowering public service officers to eliminate bribery and corruption in government institutions and foster a clean public service. The programme was held at the Tangalle Urban Council, and Prevention Officers of the Commission, Mrs. Wimukthi Jayasuriya and Mrs Udeshika Jayasekara delivered the lectures of the programme which went on for about 7 hours.
