A Chief Inspector of Police of the Police Station, Weliweriya arrested for receiving a bribe of Rs. 10,000/-

The Investigation Officers of CIABOC have arrested A Chief Inspector of Police serving the division of miscellaneous complaints in the Police Station, Weliweriya on alleged soliciting and receiving of a bribe of Rs.10,000/= at the same police station on 29.03.2021 in accordance with a complaint lodged by a businessman in Weliweriya area.

The suspect was thus arrested when he had solicited and received a bribe of Rs. 10,000/- to refrain from taking legal actions against a complaint which was lodged against the complainant at the Police Station, Weliweriya in connection with a lorry dispute.
