Kandana Police Anti-Vice Unit OIC arrested on allegations of accepting a bribe of Rs. 75,000

Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested the Officer-in-Charge of the Kandana Police Anti-Vice Unit on 30.11.2023. on allegations of accepting Rs. 75,000/- as a bribe.

The suspect has threatened the complainant, saying that he will sue him for renting room facilities illegally in the hotel he is running and will check it continuously to obstruct the operation of the hotel. He has demanded Rs. 100,000 to halt such action being taken against him and allow him to operate the hotel without interference. On 29.11.2023, the suspect has checked the hotel and has taken the N.I.Cards, Driving Licenses and Passports which were at the hotel and the complainant’s mobile phone to the Police Station. He has taken Rs. 25,000/- from the complainant for returning only the mobile phone and has solicited the remaining Rs. 75,000/- for returning other items and for not initiating legal action against the complainant. He was arrested while accepting the balance Rs. 75,000/-.
