A corruption prevention programme was conducted for the academic staff, non-academic staff and 75 student monks of Sariputta National College of Education, Nittambuwa on 31st October 2023. This programme was an extension of the Training of Trainers (TOT) programme conducted from 08th to 10th September 2023 targeting National Colleges of Education. Resource contribution for the programme was provided by Mr. Shantha Wickramarachchi (IP), Mrs. Udeshika Jayasekara (Prevention Officer) and Mr. Pradeep Amarajeewa (Investigation Officer).
On a complaint made by a person in Siyambalanduwa, Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption arrested a Beat Forest Officer of Morana Beat Forest Office, Department of Wildlife Conservation on 09.11.2023 while accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000/-.
A Prevention Programme was conducted for 65 officers of the Department of Public Trustee on 18th October 2023. Public Trustee, Mr. Gihan Pilapitiya presided the event, and the resource contribution for the programme was provided by Ms. Thanuja Bandara-Assistant Director General (CIABOC), Mr. Tharindu Dananjaya Weerasinghe – Senior Lecturer, and Prevention Officers, Mrs. Chamodi Jayasinghe, Mrs. Madhuka Ruwanthi and Mrs. Dinusha WickramaArachchi.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption, in partnership with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) conducted a workshop under the theme, “Towards a Nation of Integrity” to share knowledge and experiences with Civil Society Organizations.
Mrs. Sunethra Jayasinghe, Additional Director General, wrote to the Chief Editor of Sunday Lankadeepa on 04.10.2023 and explained facts regarding certain omissions in the news, “Half of the bribery cases have been withdrawn” appeared in the Sunday Lankadeepa newspaper published on 24.09.2023. Accordingly, Sunday Lankadeepa made the relevant correction in the newspaper published on 15.10.2023.
As ongoing series of programs this program was held on 31st August 2023 at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. The program had the participation of Prof. W.A.S. Wijekoon - Head of the Department of Sociology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, as well as Mr. Tharindu - Lecturer from the same department. The main audience for the program consisted of undergraduates from the Department of Sociology at the university.
A Corruption Prevention Programme was conducted on 27th September 2023 for Police Constables promoted to the rank of Police Sergeant at the Kalutara Police Training College, and the programme was conducted with the resource contribution of Prevention Officers, Mrs. J. L. A. Udeshika Madushani and Mr. Shammi Srilal.
Former Sports Supervisor attached to the head office of Sri Lanka Transport Board was arrested by the Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption for soliciting and accepting a bribe of Rs.80,000/-. The arrest was taken place on 05.10.2023 on a complaint received by the CIABOC.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in collaboration with the UNDP Sri Lanka under ‘JURE’ Project, conducted a Workshop for the Prosecutors and Investigators of the CIABOC, on 2nd of September, 2023 at The Winchester, Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo comprising of three informative sessions.
The Acting Unit Manager- Nochchiyagama of Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority was arrested by the Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption for soliciting and accepting a bribe.The arrest was made on 20.09.2023 following a complaint lodged by an individual in Nochchiyagama.
The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Brbery or Corruption conducted a Prevention Programme for officers of the Special Investigation Unit of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police on 11th September 2023. Resource contribution for the programme was given by Ms. Diana Kodituwakku, Additional Director (Legal), Mrs. J. L. A. Udeshika Madhubashini (Prevention Officer) and Mrs. Chamodi Jayasinhe (Prevention Officer).
