In connection with an investigation being conducted by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery and Corruption, the former Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, Dhammika Ranatunge, was arrested by the Investigation Officers of the Commission on 15 December 2025 for allegedly causing a loss of nearly Rs. 800 million to the Corporation by cancelling three long-term tenders intended to purchase fuel for the year 2017-2018 and executing spot tenders at higher prices during his tenure as the Chairman.
