The commission is conducting investigations into vehicles that have been illegally registered with the Department of Motor Traffic, bypassing Customs clearance procedures. On 1st July 2025, officers of the Commission arrested the former Commissioner-General of the Motor Traffic Department, Nishantha Anuruddha Weerasinghe, for approving the issuance of a number plate to a Toyota Jeep registered in this manner. Retired Assistant Director (ICT) Brahmana Wasala Priyantha Bandara Eriyagama, who facilitated entry of the relevant data and Attharagama Gedara Dhammika Niroshan, the Clerk who entered the data, were also arrested.
