A Police Constable was arrested for receiving a bribe of Rs.25,000/=

The Investigation Officers of CIABOC have arrested a Police Constable serving Saliyawewa Police Station on alleged soliciting and receiving a bribe of Rs.25,000/= at Puttalam Courts Complex on 03.08.2021 in accordance with a complaint received from a businessman residing at Saliyawewa area.

The Police Constable has solicited Rs.75,000/= as a bribe in order to support the procedure of getting bail with respect to the filed case in connection with a stepfather who has been arrested on alleged raping the complainant's younger sister. The suspect was thus arrested when he was receiving a bribe of Rs.25,000/= of the said bribe.
