On 22/01/2013 a Wild Life Guard attached to Area Forest Officer Baduluwela and a Civil Security Guard were taken in to custody by the Investigating Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption for soliciting & accepting Rs. 15,000/= from the complainant in order to refrain from taking legal action against the complainant for cutting down two trees of teak.

The Chairman and a Memeber of Pradeshiya Sabha,Dompe had solicited Rs. 7 million and had demanded Rs.600,000/= as an advance in order to issue a trade permit to operate a quarry in a land and to grant the recommendation of Dompe Pradeshiya Sabha and to approve the plan to deverlop a part of the land owned by the complainant.  Out of it, Rs 200,000/= had been paid already and on 11.12.2012 they were taken into custody by th investigating officers of the Bribery Commission, while accepting the balance Rs 400,000/= out of the money to be paid as an advance.

The complainant had obtained the contract to cut down Grandis tree from the Timber Corporation. The Asst. Regional Manager attached to Bindunuwewa Regional Office, State Timber Corporation, Bandrawela has solicited Rs.120,000/= to issue a transport permit as Rs. 100/= per square feet for "Grandis" timber amounting to 1200 square feet of timber. The amount was brought down to Rs.100,000/= and the said Asst.Regional Manager was taken in to custody by the Investigating Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on 05/12/2012 for soliciting & accepting Rs.100,000/= from the complainant in order to issue a transport permit.

The technical Assistant - Road Development Authority _Norwood has decided that the house constructed by the complainant was located inside the limit set out by RDA (ie within 50 feet from the center line of the main road) He was taken in to custody by the Investigating Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on 05/12/2012 for soliciting & accepting Rs.20,000/= from the complainant in order to refrain from demolishing the above mentioned house.
