On 17/10/2012, a Forest Field Assistant- Forrest Conservation Department office Laggala ( Haththota Amuna Beat, Dasgiriya Division ) was taken in to custody by the Investigating Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption for soliciting & accepting Rs. 25,000/= from the complainant to refrain from taking action against illigal gemmining in the forest reserve.

A Police Constable attached to Police Station Damana has solicited Rs.50,000/= at first to refrain from taking lagal action against the complainant for not processing licences for a mobile timber sawing machine and a hand tractor. The amount was reduced to Rs.25,000/= On 12/10/2012, the said Police Constable was taken in to custody by the Investigation Officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or  Corruption for soliciting & accepting Rs. 25,000/= from the complainant for same. 

On 05/10/2012, the Deputy Mayor of  Municipal Council Dambulla and another member of public were taken in to custody by the Investigating officers of the Bribery Commission for soliciting & accepting Rs.100,000/= from the complainant who is the Chairman of  ‘Ekamuthu’ Farmers Association, in order to grant two contracts pertaining to road constructions for them.

On 02/10/2012, a police sergeant attached to Police Station Eppawala  was taken in to custody by the Investigating officers of the Bribery Commission for soliciting sexual favours  from the complainant in order to assist her husband at a court case where her husband has been charged for cheating.
